Blank Page - Why?

In a pile of documents, such an insurance schedule, why do they put one page that just says 'this page in intentionally blank'.

Is it because they want me to draw smiley faces and put hearts over the i's on all the other ones?

If that page wasn't there there wouldn't be enough pages to make up a booklet and you'd have half a page floating about. Exam papers often have the same thing.

That can't be it. These are single A4 sheets stapled together. It's just a loose sheet at that back. Not like a booklet.

I design electrical control circuits using Computer-Aided Design software for some fairly complex machines, and some that are similar but not so complex, all on A4 size pages.
When i need to do a new simpler version i take a complex version, delete the bits that are not needed and use that as a 'base' for the new design. This usually leaves pages in the drawing set with no content.
For very time consuming reasons i don't take those out and renumber the other pages in order, i simply mark them as 'spare' and leave them in.

i meant to add that your insurance company may use a generic schedule and delete the options not taken, hang-gliding, wing-walking and lion taming for example.
