Period type pains after a hysterectomy?
14 Answers
Morning.
Before I go off running to the doctor in a panic, I thought I'd ask here first.
Following my hysterectomy in Feb [due to cervical cancer] I some times get what I can only describe as period pains [for you ladies out there, that sort of heavy feeling like you're about to explode, more than cramps].
At first I thought I may be a touch constipated but it's not that. Google suggest healing scar tissue.
Any ideas?

Worth looking in to.
I finally got round to posting on the forum you recommended yesterday and it was interesting to read about the different carriers of the flavours. Wonder if that could be anything to do with it.

Well, no need for concern and it is extremely unlikely that it is anything to do with your cancer.
Period pains after hysterectomy are indeed quite common.
I would leave it until Christmas and if you are still getting the pains then see your GP and an ultrasound may be advised.
I would take Ibuprofen 600mgms for the period pains.

Thank you Sqad [I hope I find you well]
I have been on the pain killers but for other issues and it does relieve them too.
My GP has asked if I want a...erm the name escapes me but it's a smear test offered to women post op just to check on the wound site. I should be going for that before Christmas anyway.
