Hubby not well again-Part 3

Hi everyone,
Sorry for lack of posts,things have been a bit hectic.Firstly,Hubby is home again!
He feels like he has been run over by several buses but is improving each day.We are however a bit confused by conflicting information about what he can eat,an ileostomy takes some getting used to,I understand that,but all the sites are yes eat this,no don't eat that then you go to another one and it says the opposite!?!Even the booklets he was given do the same,so the stoma nurse as good as said it is all trial and error,but not to worry too much at this stage cos things will settle down more.Anyone know of a GOOD site that can be used as a guide?
If we didn't laugh we would cry(well I do a bit anyway)what a pair we make at the moment,the blind leading the blind so to speak.At least the little Ayas are helping,despite having collage now.
Surly we have had our fill of bad luck?

aya take one day at a time, I too have a very sick o/h and there are good days and bad days and you will find the strength to cope and be the strong one and other days he will be strong for you.I wish you both well, in time you will come to terms with this, I wish you both well. Dee.

You might find it useful to contact the Ileostomy Association (http://www.iasupport.org/default.aspx) who produce leaflets and also offer answer specific questions. I wish you better days ahead.

Thanks everyone,specially tinkerbell23,that site says something that a lot of the others have missed off-for the first few weeks.These words can mean a lot in the way that all because something does not work at first,it may after a few weeks.That means he may not have to miss out on the joys of mushrooms and onions forever and that makes Mr Aya a bit happier,or maybe that's to do with the chocolate milk he is sipping now!

Its a big change to have an ileostomy but in time mr aya will look back and realize how far he has came he will be a dab hand and no-one need know!!

Eventually he can have a normal diet this is all just a settling in period for now. Glad the link helped- my first call is always NHS choices website

sorry i can't give you any help but you have all my best wishes for the future and a speedy recovery.

you have all had so much to cope with i must be your turn for some good news. at least you are strong as a family with little ayas being so helpful, that must be a comfort to you.

Huge change in lifestyle for you ayabrea .My husband has had a stoma now for nearly two years.It's irreversible .I found a lot of help and info here

We were told to he was better off to eat stodgy stuff to begin with until things settled down and then gradually introduce normal foods .
He now eats everything .In fact he never stops eating :)

Aya - much love to you and MrA, major adjustments but achievable, speak from experience, trial and error re diet is I'm afraid right.
