whilst i like a glass to drink out of, i wonder why we don't use other materials to store certain goods. I accidentally broke a full jar of coffee. And not only is it smashed to smithereens, but the glass and coffee went everywhere. Add in the fact i am now cut in three places trying to sweep this mess up. Why can't we have a hard plastic container instead of coffee jars. Is it because they are not so easily disposed of. If they made them in a hard plastic or similar it wouldn't have smashed and now have to pay a kings ransom to replace it. I am also bleeding like a proverbial stuck pig. Oh fluffing hell.

You can buy coffee on Amazon but look out for postage costs.

i wouldn't have thought you could get stuff like that on Amazon, and as you said the postage surely would outweigh any savings.
Sounds like you could do within sitting down, em, and relaxing with a nice hot cup of ....er.
Can I just revisit the 'recycled glass' issue - think JJ raised it....

We are not short of the ingredients for glass ie sand.
The heat needed to re-shape glass vessels into new products is possibly the same as fusing sand.

I agree that unbroken glass jars etc should be re-used - they used to do this with jamjars (you got back 3 old pence for a big 'un) and until recently the French did this with wine bottles.

But lots of our dry goods could be sold in coated paper containers - like tetrapaks.

Hope you have got more coffee and some Elastoplat Em - have a bikkie too.

i had thought the shop manufacturers could come up with a decent reusable container for good like coffee. Anyway i have put the coffee in a plastic container, as to the elastoplast i would have needed half a dozen, little slivers of glass make an awful mess.
