Is it normal to get scroungers at your door when your father passes away?.

My father passed away on the 5th September.
I have received sympathy cards from the family but since that day I have been bombarded with phone calls / callers at the door thinking they are entitled to his estate none of them family members.
The only beneficiary of his estate is me in accordance with his will.
Is there is anything I can do legally or otherwise to stop this nuisance.
In my case I just regard it as a severe nuisance but I am sure it could have far worse effects on many people.
His funeral has not even taken place yet.
Some of these people would have been invited to thr funeral but they will not get an invite now so it appears it will be small.

I did not advertise my parents deaths in the paper. I worked with somebody who looked at the deaths section of the local papers to see if he was entitled to any money from the estates.
As far as I know he never got any from anywhere.
After my fathers funeral I found an address book with about 20 numbes in and I thought I had better call them. Four did say they would have come to the funeral had they known but they all lived 50+ miles away so they would have not seen any advert anyway in a local paper.
