2 Veetee Dine In Rice @ £1 = £2
2 Dairy Milk @ £1.99, 2 for £3 = £3
1 Hunters Chicken £3.69
1 Chicken Parcels £3.69 2 for £6 = £6

My total comes to £11.

Receipt Total is £11.98

Is my addition wrong or are the supermarkets ripping us off again?

I bought some ice packs in Sainsbury's advertised at 70% off and was charged full price. I went straight to customer service and got my £2.10 back, might seem petty but it was my £2.10.

Just popped back there on the way to pick my granddaughter up and got my 98p refunded.
I always shove all the 'on offer' stuff at the back of the checkout, it's easier to see if you've been diddled.
Not a case of "rip-off". A simple mistake. We all make them.
I just made a simple mistake.

Greggs have a kiosk/stall in the indoor shopping centre selling drinks and pasties.

I bought a hot sausage roll for 80p (a little expensive I thought). Then I came across Greggs shop - same thing priced 68p. Asked the reason why and was told that the kiosk is classed as a restaurant therefore VAT is applied.

A mistake? Nah I call it a rip off.

Yeah, but times this simple mistake at the till by thousands and it adds up to a pretty good return for the supermarket.

I probably wouldn't have noticed if I'd been doing a big shop like I used to do.

This was a self-service till by the way, so check your receipts. Yours is a good idea rockyracoon.
Tescos and Sainsbury's etc are so automated this sort of thing is usually done by the computers during checkout. But things do go wrong occasionally.
