No - nit the song. A real, live four legged furry fiend.Spotted it tucking into Smoke's supper the other night. Any ideas how I get rid of it. I can't use poison because of the mog.

To be fair to Smoke he has tried but the damn thing doesn't come out when he's around.

Doesn't appear to be the case in my situation Ginge, I definitely just had the one.
Do you want to borrow my rat killer? Smokey is a first class ratter - I often wake up and find huge ones on my doorstep!
Rat poison is safe around cats as long as it is not directly accessible to the cat, a cat eating a poisoned rat will have no affect on the cat, modern poisons are not permitted to allow secondary poisoning.

I prefer poisons but if you can catch it in a trap, job done, use peanut butter in the trap so they spend ages licking it off, set the trap as fine as you can!

Of course you can have just one rat, 80% of rat/mouse infestations are caused by cats bringing in a caught rat and dropping it in the kitchen.

There is no such thing as a "Plummer jack russell" unless the Plummer Terrier was crossed with a Jack Russell. and it extremely unlikely that any terrier will catch a rat in a house unless you prepared to take the floors up and take the walls down.
Well to be fair to my JRT, she knew it was there- she'd spend hours staring behind the fireplace where it was living.

Until i saw the damn thing though I'd have never guessed it was even in there.

Sorry. Didn't mean to give myself best answer. Serves me right for using my phone. Can't see Smoke taking to JR.. He was trying to tunnel behind a cupboard this morning so maybe he's upping husband game!

Husband????? Must stop trying to type on phone.
I just wonder where it's coming in? best idea would be to block this up.Good luck.
Dump the kitty & get a terrier!!! .... any bait attracts vermin, unless you want to eat 80% of the twix!!! lol
Do not block up exits and entrances until after the rat is gone, you will just divert the trapped rat to another part of the house. you will often never find how they get in.

Jan 01, A terrier will do no good at all, see my answer above.

Problem solved. One dead rat, one proud cat & a slightly startled flatmate. Must get Smoke a treat for tea.
Give that cat a Pilchard, well done smokey.
Sorry, I meant to say Plummer Terrier, forget the JR bit.
Brian Plummer (RIP)was a favourite author, a hilarious man!! he bred the Plummer Terrier as a bet, what a great dog he created.

Smoke got sardines for tea & came in later with a mouse.I remember Richard Whitley & the ferret. One of the funniest things I'veseen.
Messalina, you mean this one, also with Brian Plummer. Brian was quite right, the ferret was playing lol.
This one
Why Twix? - could be a whole new promotional idea for Mars advertising companies ;)
