The killings go on and what for, will it be any different in two years time, except for the fact that more lives will be sacrificed.

Notice no party, is demanding we get out now, even during the US election campaign.

not so intelligent perhaps, we can see why they shouldn't do it, but perhaps some politicians want their piece of history, unfortunately for some it cost thousands of needless deaths. We shouldn't have been involved in Afghanistan, nor Iraq, and stayed out of all Middle East conflicts, we only ever come off the worse. It costs hundreds of thousands of lives across these countries, and for what exactly. One day as will be expected, the politicians around the world will have to sit down and parly with the likes of the Taliban, Al Queda, and any group, in pretty much the same way they have had to do in Ireland. I hope that day comes soon, i hate seeing more soldiers lose their lives, and the people of Afghanistan to lose theirs over a matter than cannot be solved by war and bloodshed.
Because, for some pathetic reason, our Gov believes that Pakistan & India need protection from invasive pathans; who only know how to corrupt and destroy in their quest for power.

Anyone who packs explosives on an innocent child & sends it on a 'goodwill' errand into a military camp has got to be sub-human.

em10 - absolutely. History shows that eventually, it is time for jaw jaw, not war war.

Remember the Falklands? The then Cabinet were seriously wary of getting into it with Argentina for one very simple reason - with the exception of margaret Thatcher, every single member of her Cabinet had fought in the Second World War. For them, war was a real experience, not a history-book concept like it seems to be for the modern government.

If Michael Hesletine wants to find his footnote in history by starting the Millenium Dome Project (because building cathedrals is no longer sexy) - that just cost millions of pounds and some red faces.

For Blair and Bush, and sadly their followers - their footnote has cost lives, not just money, for an ill-thought-out ideoligical ninsense that history shows was never going to succeeed.

I have to stop now - my head hurts.

Well it seems the feeling is mutual at least on AnswerBank, I wonder if one of those Government polls has been set up, those that when they reach so many signatures gain a debate in Parliament?

AOG, pointless having these type of government polls, many agree i am sure that being out in Afghanistan is absolute folly and was from the start.
As to Blair, i despise him for his egomaniac backside licking of George W Bush, those two sent many soldiers to their deaths, but will never be held accountable, why not?
I agree this is a discussion site, but the reason I said write to the PM, is because we seem to go over the same ground time and time again.

All this has been discussed so many times you could fill an album with the same questions an answers on this topic.

And rightly so, it should be highlighted each and every time a soldier losses his life.

If we ignore it, it somehow becomes common place and not worth a mention.

Try telling this poor woman and her two young boys, and unborn baby, that we are going over the same ground time and time again.

i agree with both Lonnie and AOG on the last two posts.

Yes it is frustrating that we make the same points over and over again, but as AOG points out, it keeps our feelings and conciences high, which is the right way to be.

The moment we start to sigh and think 'Not again' - we are on the way to accepting the deaths of military personel as a fact of life, which is a short step from ceasing to care.

Every death is a needless tragedy, and if people deal with that by posting on threads like this, then that is a very good reasdon for doing so. it may not be of practical help, but as long as we never accept this war, and these ongoing needless losses, we will remain a civlised group of people, and we need as many of those as we can get!
