What do people do all day?

Since the things have started school I have tried to find things to do (bit of cooking (slowly dragging it out), shopping (slowly), house stuff (dull)) but I am find it seriously difficult to find things to do all day. Getting a job would be impractical (school holidays, getting the kids to and from school, illness, etc) and I don't want to venture too far from home in case I need to pick one of them up from school in case of illness (they seem to catch all sorts when they first start school). How do those of you who are at home all day fill the time?

I have decided to take up glass painting this winter. I have got as far as buying a book, but am waiting for Mr LL to create a work space for me in what is now the spare bedroom so I can leave everything out. I also have a dog which certainly helps. Not being very mobile with aches and pains and at home can be really depressing. I love to garden, but it is becoming very difficult.

Can you help out at your kids school? Our school are always looking for parent helpers to come in and read with the kids....
