Oh dear, I bought 142.00 pounds worth of goods from JJB and I didn't get chance to return them before they closed down on Monday, do you know if I am covered by credit card protection against liquidation as I paid with by Visa?

Why were you wanting to return them?

sorry, yes, that's what I meant, I want a refund, ha ha, from empty coffers it seems!
Well, if you have the goods you can either keep them or sell them.
If you paid by credit card and the goods are faulty and you can not get a refund from the supplier then the credit card company are liable . Are you sure it was a visa credit card and not debit card ? If it was a debit card you are stuffed.
Just to stress the important bits of Eddie's post:

Firstly, if the goods aren't faulty you never had a legal right to a refund (or, indeed to an exchange). Some retailers allow you to return non-faulty goods but they're not obliged to do so. So you can't now claim against any card company.

Secondly, the legal protection (in respect of faulty goods only) provided by credit card companies doesn't extend to debit cards. Credit card companies have joint and several liability with retailers (which means that, if goods are faulty, you can demand your money back from the credit card company, without even contacting the retailer, even if the retailer is still trading) but debit card providers have no such liability.

PS: If the goods are faulty but you paid by debit card, lodge a claim with the administrators, KPMG. (There's obviously a bit of money left in JJB's accounts, as all of their staff will be paid. You might still get something):

I think though that for £142 you will be pretty low down the list of creditors. Don't go spending it just yet.
You won't qualify as a creditor as you have the goods you paid for, and as this appears to be what was offered in the transaction, there is no comeback in this case.

In a liquidation there will be many suppliers/tradesmen who will lose heaps of money. You are one of the lucky ones.
If the goods are faulty you ARE covered if you paid by debit card.
It is all explained here:

I don't think "wrong size" or "didn't like the colour when I saw it in daylight" would be counted as being faulty- I think they would have to be genuine faults, so unless you were really unlucky with the items you bought I doubt you'll get all of it back from your card company

It was definitely a mastercard credit card not debit, now I have checked and no, none of the goods are faulty, just bought loads of choice for other half to choose a couple as he wasn't with me at the time. so, I take that as a no then shall I?!
definate No in that case. Your OH can choose a diffent pair to suit his mood.
Yes, Eddie is right.

Put them on eBay, give as Christmas presents or let him keep them.
