My IPOD has 805 songs on it. ITUNE used to have 805 songs on it.

My hard drive crashed. I have a new hard drive. I restored from an external drive. My newly restored hard drive I tunes only has 130 songs.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO UPLOAD FROM THE IPOD?

Thank you, Jim Gunn

yes it is- if you go into itunes help pages you'll find a tuttorial. Also there are many programs out there that will help- do a google search for ipod downloads.

But before that if you consolidate your library, itunes will search your hard drive for music and import it automatically- so it might save you the hassle of uploading it from your ipod.

www.ipodhacks.com
what you want is a program called yamipod:

http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/

before copying across, do this:
delete all the iTunes stuff in your My Music folder. This means the music in the iTunes Music folder (but keep this folder), and iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml. This will reset your iTunes library. Make sure the default folder (in preferences->advanced) is set to your itunes music folder.

now connect iPod; if itunes pops up asking if you want to set your iPod to use that library, click no!
now go into yamipod, highlight all songs and go file->copy. choose whatever format to output you like (iTunes itself uses artist/album for folders, and #song title for the files themselves). copy over to your My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music folder (as in the iTunes preferences), and wait while it does that. then you can also export all your playlists too if you have any.

once you've done that, go into iTunes, you need to add the songs, so go file->add folder, and choose that folder. then advanced->consolidate library, which will sort all your songs nicely.

once you have closed iTunes and re-opened it, just to make sure all the settings are fine etc., you can dock your iPod and have it set itself up to use this iTunes Library.
