The backers for the construction of the Memorial are faced with a bill for £827,000 to cover the cost of the opening ceremony without lottery or state help. As an ex-aircrew of WW2, should I sell my house for £200,000 to donate, then go into a care home for which the government will have to pay £500 per week or £24,000 per year?
