You may have noticed recently that we've introduced the new concept of Badges to The AnswerBank.

Badges are a fun (if silly) way of recognising the achievements of members of The AnswerBank.

It may also be useful for new members to know when a member has been recognised as an expert in their given category.

We've announced this before, but I hope this thread acts as a handy how-to for members unfamiliar with the badge system.

1. You can see all available badge here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/badges/

You can click on each badge in the list to see which other members have earned that badge.

There are currently 19 badges, with more to come in the future.

2. To see which badges you have, you can visit your profile:

http://www.theanswerb...hp?cftype=user_badges

3. To see the badges other members have, you can visit their public profile by clicking their avatar and clicking the "badges" tab, like this:

http://www.theanswerb...ers/ab-editor/badges/

You'll also find that there is now a "Best Answer" tab on your public and private profiles. This means any time you get marked with a best answer, you'll be able to see it there.

Please ask any questions about badges below.

(The initial announcement thread can be found here: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1167490.html We think we've got most of the bugs - but we're always reprocessing.)

Is there a way to find out how close, or not close you are to achieving one of those Ed?

I am not one to complain, much, but the vast majority of my best answers are for crosswords, and yet I do not have the coveted Puzzler badge. Can I get my Puzzler badge and perhaps some sort of cash refund too?
Thanks Ellipsis.
Please Sir, may I have a badge?

Morning Dr. B,

It does look like you should have a puzzler badge... I'll report the issue and see if the system needs any further tweaking.
How can anyone get a badge if they have never answered a question?
this must be my finest hour: I got a Best Answer - and it was removed

Perhaps there should be a badge for Best Outlawed Answers
Question Author
Odd. It's been unremoved :)

Outlaw badge would be interesting - if it didn't encourage bad behaviour?
Couldn't we have an alias badge for those who flounce, it shouldn't have their actual old username, but just the number of times when they were substituted? May help with the troll-tracker system, but may have issues with the finger-pointing as other AB'ers try to guess who was who.
thank you, Ed.

Tremendous answer, wasn't it.
