Mine used to say have you got your vest on, you'll catch your death. Can wearing warm clothes really prevent us from getting colds. The germs will still get to us somehow!
What advice did your mum, dad or gran etc give to you as a child?
my nan always used to say " you have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason" i was quite old before i understood what she meant, but it has served me well since :-)
my gran didn't like to eat from a plate that had anothe plate underneath as it'd kill a sailor, also if crossed 2 knives, she'd ask someone else to uncross them
Mum had all the usuals about wearing vests, don't go outside with wet hair etc also don't wash your hair when you have your lady visits also never got that one. But she also had lots of things like drink a large glass of warm water every morning have high fibre diet for regular bowel movements blah blah as kids we cringed when this was brought up but have realized now that she wasn't so daft after all.

too many, both mum and gran, who did say if you cry you cry alone. and don't stay in staring at four walls...
do you want a clout, or don't come running to me if you break a leg, which has already been mentioned, funny
I remember most of those, favourite one though is being told to finish the home-made soup, it'll put hair on your chest.
Great advice for my 2 older brothers but it confused me.
When either of mine stand in front of something I say to them, I know you're a pane but I can't see through you.
don't go out with wet hair you will catch your death, not sure how you catch death, or you will be laughing on the other side of your face if you carry on..
My welsh born mum used to say it would soon be New Years Day but it sounded more like new ears day. I would be about 10 and I remember saying once that I didnt want new ears. When I realised what she meant I couldnt stop laughing and sent this in to the local Birmingham paper and I think I won £10 which I gave to my mum of course.
