try Blossom Hill White Zinfandel. It's a nice light rose, quite fruity and easy to drink (bit too easy) not too dry and goes great with delicate flavours such as chicken (and so probably be good with turkey). It's about 5 quid a bottle but some places (Sainsburys I think) used to do a box of it, which is good if you've got large numbers for Chrimbo.
or if you want to up the budget a bit, a demi sec champagne, tescos does a good one for about 15 quid
Try Firecrest a rose, medium sweet from Asda 3.99. I've had to think of the name for a while, we had more than a few bottles last night
Some of the rose wines might suit you - they're generally not too dry, and you might find a sparkling one a little more digestible..
I go along with the trend. A nice chilled bottle of Rose would go down well with most people (turkey as well). Personally I prefer a Grenache Rose which has a nice bite and not too sweet.
Can't go wrong with Piesporter Michelsberg. Goes with anything, but make sure its nice and cold.
I'm very surprised that everyone seems to recommending white (or ros) wines. Turkey is usually served with cranberry sauce which will completely swamp the flavour of any decent white/ros wine.

A good quality Rioja would seem to be a much better choice. Most of the really good stuff is usually above 15 a bottle but Tesco's Via Mara Rioja Reserva is normally great value at 7.99. At the moment, however, it's on special offer at just 3.99 per bottle but get there quickly because it's selling fast!

Chris

We always have red wine for Christmas dinner, usually a soft Merlot, but this year it's Chateauneuf-du-Pape as Sainsbury's were selling it at half price.

Don't you think some people tend to be a bit too precious with wine - drink whatever suits your taste tobeloy - and a Happpy Christmas!

Thanks all for your replies....personally i will go with a rose and i will try the blossom hill as well.....Merry Christmas to you all

For red wine drinkers Pinot Noir is definitely the way to go - slightly chilled!

For White wine - Chardonnay or a Chardonnay/Viognier Blend.

Champagne will also work a treat.

Enjoy!

If you want red wine, try a Shiraz: Penfold's Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz from Oz: good but pricey at about 10 a bottle. Or a Zinfandel: Bonterra are a good producer, or Ravenswood are ok (Amador Old Vines or Lodi Old Vines are better than the bog standard Vintner's blend)and you should be able to find them in the supermarket.
