NO, they come from straining to hard on the toilet, they get pushed out side the body when they should remain inside.

Or after labour if you have given birth, this can be worse than the actual childbirth (so I'm told).

hi, iv just had a baby which gave me piles,my doctor told me not to put my bum on cold surfaces while they heal if that help? gemma

No, but if you've got external piles I wouldn't recomend sitting on cold concrete!
