I have a 2005 Renault Laguna and on the dash is a permanent orange LCD reminder that I must change my oil!

If I get a normal garage to do this will this message disappear or does an official Renault garage have to reset something?

Thanks.

Yep, it's a reset.
Put the ignition on but don't start the car, flick through the display until the 'miles to next service' one is showing. Press and hold the button on the end of the stalk and the display will flash eight times, release the button and wait and the new service interval should appear.
Follow Graham-W's advice and you won't even need to change the oil.
Hey. That's only the way to reset the light. That's not the way to give the car a service.
Bad lub and you are burning money away without even realising it. Fuel consumption can creep up by over 10%......or 10 miles in a 100 and so that's £1-35 to 50p-ish......the £20 of lubricant suddenly looks a good buy.
You should only go by the car manufacturers recommended oil change intervals if you use the recommended oil. If you are using a budget oil then change it more frequently and change the oil filter too.
Some garages do a cheap oil change because they use cheap oil, They don't have that big tank marked 'oil' for nothing.
jomifl is right as to the filter.

Thanks all.

I will change the oil but the MOT is due next month so I'll get it done then. Didn't want to pay extra if I could avoid it!
