can you get facial wipes for men?

my friends son is hospital and i wanted to get him a little bag of useful stuff. If it were a lady i usually get wipes, hand cream, lip balm etc, but i'm a bit stuck for a young man!

You can buy Carex wipes that are suitably mannish. Available in most large supermarkets, Superdrug, Boots etc

Wipes from Simple, Tesco, Superdrug etc are fairly genderless. You can also get a whole range of reasonable toiletries for men now, face balm, moisturiser etc. It's the in-thing for men.

A spring water spray such as evian is also a good option and magazines etc

Some kind of waterproof bag might be useful too as I find hospital showers tend to be more wetroom like so the water tends to go all over a bit, especially if you want your stuff near the showers.

Does he like anything like hot chocolate? You could get him some sachets he could make up with hot water when they come round with the hot drinks trolley.

A sponge would be another good idea as I find it difficult to wash properly without one. I love the massage ones as it makes you feel more scrubbed.

A bottle of cordial is also great for people who aren't big drinkers of just normal water (especially when it's been sat in a jug in a warm hospital for a while).

Maybe some little salt sachets if you can find some somewhere depending on how good the food is! Cupasoups are also an idea if he can get hot water on the tea trolley.

Also depends on what he is in for though (in case nil by mouth, immobile etc...)

When OH was in hospital after a heart attack some years ago, they hadn't washed him by the following day as he was all wired up to machines over his shirt and jeans (he was rushed in so no time to undress him) I took some Johnsons baby wipes in and he said it felt like heaven just to wash his hands and face with them ............I thought it was awful he hadn't even had a wash by the nurses, that little kind act in itself makes you feel better.

Boots used to do their own cucumber wipes. I remember someone bringing some into me when i had a stay in hospital. They were very refreshing and welcome as its always so hot in hospitals ive found.

i find that the face wipes from aldi (blue - for sensitive skin) are the best. 79p per pack and are quite damp, so good for washing generally and don't drag on your skin because they are dry. brands like johnson, simple and even boots own are very dry and you need several just to get basic make up off and would probably be quite useless for a bloke, but the aldi ones give you a good, damp and thorough going over. don't get baby wipes or hand wipes - they are not really suitable for face/body cleaning and can leave a weird smell behind after. both my hubby and son raid my aldi ones - for after food, getting up and before going to bed. i have to buy tons of the ruddy things!!!
