where I come from (which is classed as a third world country) you can buy a small hot ready to eat "steak and kidney" pie from a bakery such as greggs. I know you can get large frozen pies from supermarkets here which you have to bake yourself. Dont people in the uk like steak and kidney?

Think you may have posted under wrong topic. Maybe ChatterBank would be better or Food and Drink.
I make my own steak & kidney pie about every 10 days, I do cheat a bit as I buy ready rolled pastry but the actual steak and kidney I cook the night before. People in UK are getting lazy and tend to buy ready made meals from the big supermarkets, you just have to heat them up and you can get individul steak & kidney pies or a family size one, but the choice of food is big and varied inc english, chinese and indian meals. Greggs are mainly for lunch time snacks you would not serve them for dinner.
Steak pie is lovely - steak and kidney pie is just offal.
Yes, we like steak and kidney - kidney is a personal choice, but you can buy S&K pies all over.
Yes, we eat steak and kidney pie about once every fortnight. its good!
Long ago, before I knew any better, I thought Fray Bentos' Steak and Kidney pie was OK.
