whats the best paste to use to put it up with?

You can use any commercial paste. If you use extra strong, it will be an absolute pig to get off when you want to change it. Just be sure to follow the instructions.
I hope the wall-covering can cope with the condensation in the bathroom. If it is not specially recommended for bathrooms, or obviously intended for bathrooms ( say it has a tile effect) then be careful to ensure no joins of the covering fail to stick properly - or damp can get in through the joins and maybe create mould behind the vinyl..
...and it's a good idea to make sure it has anti-mould additives.
Hi, these days the majority of pastes have the anti fungus in them. As for the paper I would stick it up with the ready made paste. You will need it somewhere like a bathroom with all the condensation otherwise the edges will keep on peeling. Just make sure that you paste the paper properly up to and including the edge of it. The ready made paste in harder to put on but the results will be better.
