........................been selected for a trial at Manchester United and will be going to Old Trafford early in the New Year to see how things work out as regards a future there for him.

Like any teenage boy, he is "absolutely over the moon", to coin an old football cliche, at this prospect, and he can barely contain his excitement.

Surely this is the pinnacle for any young aspiring referee?
