Looking for ideas on a UK location to take my other half for New years eve.... I was going to return to Paris, where we enjoyed Valentines day but I am restricted to a budget of £150-£200 including travel and hotel/meal etc.... But want to do something nice. Edinburgh is an obvious choice I suppose so is a short city break but thought I would ask.....??

Ooops too many "m's" lol ;)
It's FAB ummmm. Next time you visit your cousin, pop into Mimi's and have their afternoon tea.
Was it you that posted the link, Mazie? I think I read the whole menu.

I've never been to see my cousin in Scotland. She comes down here, but she's just had a baby :-)
Yes I did ummmm. I go to Edinburgh every month to see the kids and try and pop in for cake or a bacon sandwich. That's a shame ummmm, you'd love Edinburgh I'm sure
I'm sure I will. I'll just start planting the seed for NY 2014 which is just over a year away :-)
Oh Excellent we can have a AB Clan gathering :o)
We went to London for 2011, we booked a hotel on late rooms the day before and paid £ 75 for the Hilton in Paddington, and we just went out to dinner and drinks and then ambled over to Westminster Abbey to hear the chimes and see the fireworks. The Embankment gets really crowded and they close it off early but if you are happy to be a little further back without the 'perfect' view you can have a great time and within budget !
Edinburgh is a brilliant city to visit, but well worth avoiding on New Year's Eve; the most over-hyped over rated party ever, unless watching youngster vomiting in the street and tartan shorbread tourism does it for you?
