I have this thing about not phoning people after 9pm if its not something that can wait until the next day.

Different if its an emergency. Whats your cut-off time?

Someone I know always phones late. He's a taxi driver and keeps odd hours. I got a missed call from him on the home phone at 10.37pm last night! I know it saturday but still!

Whenever I make a phone call to a friend or relative I always first ask if they are busy at the time or I am interrupting something in which case I wiill ring back later.
I would not dream of phoning anyone after 8 30. Sheer bad manners but that's me.
After 9am and before 8pm for me - and I like that to be reciprocated.
Cold callers get short change during the day and abuse after 7.00 p.m. Wouldn't dream of a calling someone (friend or acquaintance) after 6.00 p.m. unless it was emergency or I needed to borrow money.
do you mean 9pm and 8am naomi?
