I feel like I live on another planet. I only know two people who xstitch..one in the UK and the other in Canada..I am in Denmark.
I'd love to hear what you are working on and any tips....

At the moment I am working on a Christmas Calendar and it is filthy. I don't know how I have managed to get the fabric so dirty. When I am finished which hopefully will be in about 10 days I plan to give it a soak in soapy water and then put it in a washing bag and wash it at 40 degrees in my machine.

Any comments and advice on this would be welcome.

I've been a crosstitcher and designer for 25 years, i do think it seems to have fallen out of favour in recent years as a hobby. I would always recommend you wash any embroidery project once it's finished, unless you have only handled it wearing cotton gloves, as the oils from your hands can cause brown staining over time. Loved cross stitching, it's so addictive too. Have done such a lot in the past but now nowhere to display them, have even done my own designs from photographs which is very satisfying. Now I'm into card making but still occasionally do the odd x stitch bits n bobs...so I still keep my hand in.

I used to do a lot of cards daisya but discovered that I was giving friends a problem of what to do with the cards so instead of cards now I do book marks for birthdays etc. Luckily I have a lot of family to stitch for as like you I am running out of wall space.

Seekeerz just for fun I checked out eBay Australia and they had 145 Permin cross stitch kits. You might want to have a look see there. I am an old ebayer and can highly recommend it. I use the one in the UK.

Daisya, I just remembered another good outlet for cross stitching things. If you go into www.framecraft.co.uk and click on acrylic products you will find so many different ways to encompass your stitching, for example; small mirrors, fridge magnets, rulers etc etc etc......

Hello Everybody,

I need your help again. I'm doing a Christmas table runner for my daughter (Permin 63-9260) and would like your advice on a backing for it. Since I imagine it might have to be washed now and then I don't think that an iron on interfacing which I usually use would be suitable. (wouldn't it come unstuck??)
FOA Joggerjayne cross stitching is like tapestry , but instead of using wool you use embroidery skeins.
Not something I have ever done, but my daughter does. Nothing too elaborate but she makes special cards for wedding anniversaries and birthdays.
