1.6 kw = 1600w and is therefore higher output
Those Dyson heaters look good.................
Question Author
sunny would the 1.6kw be a more strong heat. and do you know yourself if they are hot - brother needs hot. Thanks
Connemmara - kilo is usually times one thousand eg kilometre is one thousand metres.
Yes the 1.6 will be hotter, but I don't think those halogen heaters are very good really unless your pretty close to them.
I wouldn't get a halogen heater for heating a room. they don't heat the air at all, they heat objects in front of them... they are also the biggest fire risk of any electric heater.
I like this heater..it's cheaper on Amazon

What did the electric rabbit say?

"Watts up, Doc"!

A man goes into an hardware store asks for a light bulb.

The assistant asks him "What watt?"

The man says "I asked for a light bulb, you deaf c**t"!
I use a 2kw (2000 watt) halogen heater to take the chill off my conservatory (for the plants) and that is just about all it does. No good for a room heater IMO.
I have a small halogen heater that I keep for emergencies, the heat is instant, but as others have said you need to sit quite near to it to get the benefit. They are also very bright & can give off a bit of a glare.
As Chuck has said, a halogen heater is not a good choice - it's a radiant heater that you need to be near. Also, you need to go for a more powerful output - at least 2 or 2.5 kw. I'd go for an oil-filled radiator- more expensive to buy, but a lot better for your purpose.

can you advise on a good heater to heat a room. Thanks
I got a small oil filled heater from Instore/Poundstretcher - heats up quick, and obviously still gives out heat as it cools down.
Does he have a fire in the living room?

I would go with the oil filled radiator, more expensive to buy, but worth it in the long term.
Mine was only around £20
