Hi there i have been having left sided chest pain for months and every time convinced it was a heart attack, angina or a puimonary embolism. I went to see an oestopath privately and I was told I have an impingment of my left shoulder and he explained that all the muscles in that area were going to be affected so I have been greatly reassured. Left sided chest pain does not always mean something terrible. Who would have thought that insignificant things like muscles could cause pain !!

Sometimes my muscles cause me terrible pain!
i wouldnt call muscles '' insignificant things''....as your discomfort and worry over the recent months will testify...
How can muscles be insignificant? Without them you couldn't move.
oh, they do gordie, they do. i crumpled my back this morning and have been in agony all day....it is easing a little now, though. mr kicker had left sided chest pain and it turned out to be pleurisy. he is still recovering now, after 5 weeks x
Did you not go to your doctor with those pains, before you saw the osteopath, gordie? You could have had your mind put at rest months ago.
Trapped wind causes terrible pain. Once you know what is causing the pain you stop worrying.
it took mr kicker 3 weeks before he went to the doctor (despite persistent nagging from me) x
jeza without wanting to sound patronising that is a common misconception ''trapped wind'' is very often a heart attack...and dont forget the heart itself is a ''muscle''...
great post, stoke! x
Is the heart not also a pump. I appreciate what you're saying stoke but I was told I had trapped wind.
Can I just throw this into the mix? When I had my heart attack there was no pain.

result, nice!
I would still go to my GP for a check-up and get an x-ray done too.
From someone who knows. Gordie.

In the 70s, my OH was an ambulance man (pre paramedics), and he told me that he used to dread call outs on a Sunday pm, because so many people scoffed a Sunday roast and then sat down, developed indigestion which they then thought was a heart attack, so called an ambulance. Hope you feel well now gordie.
That's true gordie but on the other side I ignored chest pain for some time...yes, I know, very foolish...I never imaged it would be my heart, I have a painful condition called fibromyalgia so I put it down to that. When I finally felt very ill and went to the doc it turned out I did have a heart problem...now thankfully ok.
It's always best to have chest pain checked out.
