Remembrance Sunday

We don't go to a service but I always watch the Cenotaph on the TV.

as i have a stinker of a cold, suspect i will be housebound tomorrow, if so will watch the service on tv.

Sometimes watch the Saturday Festival of Remembrance on TV and then go to Church for the service on Sunday, with a new pack of tissues. I can't understand why our service starts at 11am, the usual time, so we miss the 2 minutes silence.

Trish and I usually go to the local memorial for the Last Post but not the service as it's only a small church, but I must admit it's nice to see that every year more people especially youngsters attend.

There's a small War Memorial in the cemetery behind my house. At 2pm, the local minister and others congregate.
We stand in our back garden. I can't go, too weepy.

There are also too many small crosses (plain ones) with just the names on them throughout the cemetery.

I always take part, only missed one year, '09, as I was in Hospital.

My OH was in the army so we always pay our respects.
This year a young army man died after going to his army friends funeral. Although he was not killed in action we will be lining the street on Monday as the hearse goes through the town.

Yes, there will be a good turn out. His time in Afghanistan had obviously affected him greatly. Very sad.

As one with friends and family in theatre and at the Cenotaph tomorrow I will be watching the service on TV and following the news for the in-theatre service.

Nice idea, eccles - OH often listens to the various services on BFBN if he's out in Europe at the time.

I watch it on TV nowadays, always used to go with my dad,( who trained cadets,) wearing my girl guide uniform, always cry when Nimrod is played as we had this piece of music at his funeral.
