For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It used to be customary to give way to vehicles coming up hill because it is easier for traffic going down to move off from stationary. This goes back to horse drawn vehicle days when it made very good sense.
But, parked cars on your side are YOUR obstruction and you should give way to oncoming traffic.
Watch it Snapper ! Just imagine, mate if there were the same number of horses as ther are cars. Bloody good fun on the M25 eh ?
Well, I'm 72 and started driving when there were still a few horses using the road such as milk carts, coal carts etc. and I am the grandson of a drayman, so I met men who did follow that simple rule I mentioned.
And did you know that lorry drivers (hauliers) can still legally relieve themselves against the wheel of their vehicle (not while its moving, of course !). All goes back to 'orse and carts. Have a great Xmas.
