My contribution for today:-

Hard, sharp frost, November morn
Honouring them who have long gone
Such young men so eagerly went
To fight
And now their lives are spent
Mown down in battle, lives laid low
Now all those crosses
Row upon row.

Proud men march with heads held high
Remembering those whom they knew, die
Now medals gleam on Sunday best
As we
Honour them who lie at rest
And there are those too young to know
Why all the crosses row upon row.

Eleven o'clock, and all is still
The last post echoes o'er the hill
Somewhere, the poppies proudly grow
Amongst the crosses, row upon row.

If you 'Google' Commonwealth War Graves Commission you should be able to find out where your grandfather's brother is buried. I go in the summertime with a poppy I've kept from the previous November, it's too cold for me in France in the winter (I'm a (young) grandfather myself now!!
Best Wishes

Thank you, parkdale
parkdale that is lovely, thank you.
touching and very moving parkdale...
That is beautiful parkdale
Beautiful.....
Not every year, but whenever I can, I leave a poppy on my grandfather's grave in France. Next time I can manage I'll pin that to it. Thanks parkdale.

I'll be pleased for you to do that Wharton. My Grandfather's 20 year old brother fell somewhere in France but I don't know where so that would be representative of him too if you don't mind.
(Yes. I know it's late. Dropped off in chair. Just going to bed).
I'll do that parkdale and I'll put your name on the poem.

Thanks Wharton. I'll be interested to hear when you go.
I've never made the trip myself.
All the best.

I meant to say parkdale that my grandfather is buried in the Faubourg D'Amiens Cemetery in Arras.

Thanks for that Wharton. Just going out but will do that later.
