I remember he was the morning DJ who announced the news to me (I was a student at the time) that John Lennon had been shot. Do you remember where you were when hearing the news about the death of John Lennon ?

I was 16 when JFK was shot. I was a junior (Year 11) in high school....we were sent home early. My mom was silent-In a way I'd never seen before. I went down to the church, and sat in the dark for a bit...then came home to no telly. The only thing on the screen when the news wasn't on was a picture of JFKs rocking chair.
I was in a bar called The Gaslight in Brooklyn with my English BF....We'd been together almost a year-and I'd never seen him so silently angry as that night. It was as if NYC had killed Lennon.

Ooh, the rocking chair bit hit a chord, pasta! I still love anything about JFK. Have you read 11.23.63 by Stephen King, brilliant!
Elvis died in '77 banksman, so you were about 17. I had no real interest in Elvis at the time but my mum and dad did. I've grown to love and appreciate him more as I've got older!
