Let a florist / Sheff / Butcher / Trafic warden etc Service your car? why do people use the likes of K.F. who are tyre fitters / Halfords who are Cycle + & car accessories stores, or is it because persons think that these people are clued up on faults on your cars?

No KF for puncture or kwik fix plug in tyre but Honda garage for service
I prefer not being ripped off by any dealership, and no I don't use the main dealers, for the above reason.

One good answer!
To be fair to Halfords, our local "Halfords" service/repair garage was previously another chain garage, so the staff ARE qualified motor engineers, not bike or accessory salesmen.
Lets face it for a lot of jobs on modern cars you don't need to be fully qualified mechanic, you only need to know where to plug the computer in. Having said that I'd much rather take my motor to a place that has a good solid rep then somewhere like KF if I need anything more then tyres or exhaust.
That's like the AA ad with John Cleese. Just because the guy works for Halfords doesn't mean he's not a car mechanic.
What's a Sheff, some kind of American lawman? If so they're not going anywhere near my car!
What is a Sheff?
<ahem> "chef" ????

Thank you Woof.
KF are not just tyre fitters. They may have started out in that way but they service and repair vehicles as well.

I speak as I find and although I would not have my vehicle serviced by them I have never had cause for complaint when they've fitted pads, exhausts, coil springs etc. I am always been invited to see the affected part before agreeing to any work and I always watch the inspections and repairs very closely from outside the bay.

Once or twice in the past, the KF fitter has replaced a light bulb FOC rather than fail my car's MOT and on another occasion fitted an exhaust clamp, again FOC, to repair a broken exhaust weld during an MOT. I guess I'm just lucky to have a good KF depot.
anytime
I thought they just did fried chicken!
I trust the dealer we bought our car from, we took out a 5 year deal with Honda so we only pay for parts. Honda check regularly to make sure we are happy
Got chatting to an OFSTED guy recently and by chance he told me that Kwik Fit had a very high score for their training systems and by no means were their employees muppets.
