How about this for a scenario. The kid dies. Debbie blames Cameron, Cain kills Cameron, on his deathbed he admits he killed Carl. Chas is released. Cain is still angry with her but she gives him an alibi for killing Cameron

As for Charity and her husbands baby, well someone else can take up the story.
