Hubby has managed to cut his thumb opening some food for the dog. Admittedly, blood has been pouring for the past 8 minutes or so, and I have given little sympathy. After placing his thumb under water for a good five minutes or so, i have got through many plasters and have taken to an antiseptic bandage to pop round it, secured by some tape. It will not stop bleeding, and he is convinced it needs a stitch or two. I think different. Do I cart him off to A & E, or continue my sympathy by drinking wine and playing on the computer?

A&E now, as there is a short window (under 6 hours), after which the open sides start healing and you can't stitch them together.
Or, so I was told at our A&E last year when I sliced my finger sharpening a kitchen knife, and yes I now have a white numb line on my fingertip.
Can you make it to your local Minor Injury Unit before they close, (usually at 9pm), ?
You weren't doing yourself any favours by running it Nader water for that long.
