My mum has osteoporosis - am I likely to get it, too?

Its possible. There is a strong inherited element to osteoporosis. You can take steps to limit the likelihood though. Talk to your doctor, he will put you in touch with your local support group and give you any information on screening etc.

women suffer this a lot, especially after the menopause, it's from a hormone deficiency. Weight training will help increase bone density at any age, quite dramatically too! you should both go down the gym today :-)
