Suggestions for Christening present?

Hi,

Not quite sure where to ask this but thought Chatterbank seems most active.

I am totally stuck what to give a 6 year old girl as a christening present.

Does anyone have any ideas. I have looked at silver bracelet but I am guessing that's been thought of already.

Beyond that my mind goes blank.

How about a commerative coin struck in the year of her birth, or a decent 2004 bottle of wine/port for laying down.

I've a friend who was in this same position recently. She put a nice new crisp £50 note in a card for the wee one.
In the past I have bought jewellery as a gift for a Christening, if I remember rightly we bought a single pearl on a gold chain, for her to use when she got older, as a baby would receive all the usual silver bangles and silver piggy banks and so forth, we went for something that she could use when she was older. I did suggest this idea to my friend as a gift for the little girl she was buying for, but she couldn't find any jewellery she thought suitable so she went for the cash option instead

Plant a tree, which will grow with the little one.

My friends father planted a tree when he was born. unfortunately he died some years later. my friend took me to see this tree and wept by its side. It still grows strong today in Holland and he is so proud
