I had a single story extension built on my house about 4 years ago. Two long thin vertical crack have since appeared where the new walls meet the old. If this gets worse and I need to get it fixed would the cost be covered by household insurance?

Sandy, I'm sorry I got the wrong end of the stick :o(

Internal plaster cracks and no evidence externally ............. as Sqad would say...........

No big deal
Monitor the situation (really not necessary)
600mg Ibuprofen

Carry on :o)

Thanks to you too, The builder
sandy,
Natural shrinkage when stuff dries out, it contracts. i have actually seen real problems, a gap in internal wall that you could stick your fingers into, that was subsidence, but cracks on fairly new work are quite common. don't panic
