Need to alter a PDF Document

I have a few PDF documents that I need to alter but I don't have PDF writer. I just need it temporarily and wondered if I could download it for free somewhere? I don't want to end up with a virus so want a reputable website. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you!

I think the whole point of PDF is that your not supposed to edit the PDF file.

You need to find the original source (Word document or whatever), make the changes, then create ANOTHER PDF file.

A PDF file protects people from having to send out the updatable source (like a Word document).

^^^ exactly, you need the original as PDF format is used to protect the document from change by anyone other than the creator.
