Listener 4217 Absolutely Pointless by Waterloo

A highly entertaining gridfill this week (I am struggling over the last two squares - cells, whatever) and wondering whether there is a further pdm to come - though it is difficult to see how anything else could be hidden in the grid.

But, as others have written, this meant that the interest lay in the method of entry rather than a pdm towards the end which would help to solve the final few stubborn clues. For me, the last to be found was 18(ii) (because I was looking for the definition in the wrong place in the BRB).
I still have 6 to go as well and am not finding it at all easy as the possibility of making mistakes en route is quite high. I have already discovered a couple, so am never quite confident of the initial letter I think is right. The low number of postings to date suggests others must be struggling too.
Not as bad as knights tours, but felt like some of the same "try all paths" slogging at the end to get answers to some, like 16 and 20(ii). I prefer the Listeners where there is more to go after filling the grid, but at least the clues and method of entry made the grid fill here a reasonable challenge.
Four to go now. I can't believe how dense I was about the ones I have got today! I even read one of them in a thesaurus and rejected it in my mind. I only have one blank space now, so three of my answers are in there if all is right. It is 29 that is giving me a headache. Could someone just confirm that it starts with one of the letters of 25i. If not, it is back to the drawing board for me and I will send in last week's by itself, but as I am not all-correct and I have won a BRB, maybe I won't bother.
A tough, fair and well-constructed puzzle, no less enjoyable for having so many (40) unchecked cells (one of these is the initial of 16 jockie, though it is self-checked). In fact 5 cells were triply checked (6 if the self-checked cell in 1(ii) is included) and another 15 doubly checked. 26 was my favourite clue also. I did wonder why the NE and SE corners of the grid are missing ?
