Is it true that the act of eating a stick of celery burns more calories than the celery actually contains? If so, are there any other foodstuffs to which this applies?

There are only 5 calories per stalk! It is said to have negative calories and is supposed to be the only food that does.
Only if you chew each mouthful for about 20 minutes......
only IMHO but i wouldn't say celery is the only one - there are a few foodstuffs which are little/no calories and so would cost more in calories to digest i imagine; cucumber (which is 90 odd percent water) and beansprouts are two that spring to mind immediately
