I'm assuming that the question requires a personal answer Phantaxus so I've expressed my opinion and if your question wasn't aimed at me I apologise for my arrogance. Josh Homme is the lead singer and guitarist in a band called Queens of the Stone Age and I highly recommend their album 'Songs for the Deaf'.

This is going to come off as dry and humourless Einstein but you beat all of us to it in the greatest man alive stakes, Bill Clinton would also be a worthy nominee for his work in Northern Ireland during his Presidency and the work he has continued to do since. Josh Homme and his cohort, Nick Oliveri are deeply personal choices, I'll just say I find their latest album very soothing and leave it at that.

I had assumed this site dealt with factual matters, but since you invite opinions I will submit Tony Benn as a worthy candidate. That's simply because I admire people who are true to their principles, who are wise and intelligent. How many politicians can that be said of? If he were still alive, Enoch Powell would qualify under similar criteria, so this is not a party political opinion. Depends what you mean by "great", doesn't it? Mark King is still the greatest bass player alive!
