Well! A fairly uneventful trip.....
...for me. We were told we were to be delayed at Derby because of the floods so I went off in search of coffee and sandwiches. Just opened our sandwiches when the delayed train arrived on time. I wish I hadn't opened my suitcase because I think that is where the stuffed in at the last minute white bra fell out, along with the gift for my host. But god knows what happened to my sandwich. When I found my seat.....suitcase, bag, coffee, open sandwich box and all the other paraphernalia I take away clutched in my arms I had an empty sandwich box. Some poor soul most likely has an egg and cress sandwich stuck to their coat.
We were near Leeds when the train halted. There had been an armed robbery and the robbers had dumped the getaway car on the line. Well, that's the story we got. The last part of the journey, when we got going, was at snail's pace to make sure the track wasn't damaged.
I hadn't been able to get hold of the chap I was staying with to say I was late but he's a lovely, calm, take Gness as she comes sort of guy and he was still smiling and waiting at the station.
The bit about the artificial leg, the bullet wound and the Noro Virus (sp) can wait til I have had some wine. x
