Just a thought, crossing - Henry Fielding suffered at the censor's hands. I think
one of his early plays led to an Act of Parliament controlling what could be performed in theatres.

crossing - I think I've got it for you. I suggest you google "Lawrence Gridiron" and read all about it. So the author is D H Lawrence (Lady Chatterley and all that, banned from publication for years, hence censored.
