Here is what I can tell you hearing it first hand from some of the old timers that have lived there all their life and remember Elvis is a child. Elvis revisited Tupelo many times over the years, no 1 knows exact dates though. It was usually random visits most often in the middle of the night. Some old timers down there still tell stories about how Elvis remembered them from his childhood and would show up and visit. I was told his last visit was not long before he died. 1 woman was like a second mother to him when he live there is a child he supposedly showed up in 1976 or 77 in the middle of the night with couple of his friends just to talk & visit. There is a little patch of ground about 300 feet behind the little house he was born in, It's said Elvis used to like to go up there because nobody really went up there and he could be left in peace just to look around and be by himself. They have very recently made a historical plaque and placed it on the site behind the old house he was born at. As for his funeral procession no it did not leave Memphis.
