Thanks, dannyk13 ! This must be in a later dictionary than mine. I must start saving for the 12th edition. MX & HNY.
Why? IR for Ireland, but to the north, i.e. reversed, and always = ever.

Thanks to all who helped. I couldn't construe REEVER, but rIEver seemed OK, but why NORTHERN Ireland ? Just 'Ireland', yes. Oh, grief ! Northern is going upward; I'm getting old; no; correction; 'got', not 'getting'.
