Vaillant wireless programmer VRT 340f

Help! This thing is driving me mad! Despite some advce from ianess and grahamfreer, I still don't really know how to set the programmer. I have simply been controlling the boiler by raising and lowering the temperature, and this has worked for a few months, but suddenly the boiler keeps going on to manual control (the little red hand on the boiler panel is lit up) and I have to press the button to switch it off. The boiler is coming on at all times of the day and night again. Is there anyone out there with the time and the patience to assist me in detail??

If you haven't got the original instructions then you really need to get some from Vailant as they all have their own methods of operation.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. In my exasperation with the aforesaid object, I think I have now cracked it! (not literally, though I have felt like dropping it from a great height many times!)
