Why does my amp keep shutting off??

My amp keeps cutting off everytime i turn the volume up past 2! its a Technics, Stereo Integrated Amplifier SU-V303. I have no idea why it does this. Thanks in advance for help!

It may have overload protection, if there is a problem with the amp, speakers or cables (possibly a short circuit), then somwe amps have built in protection that turns off the amp to prevent damage. Check the speaker cables first for cuts or damage. Alternatively there may be thermal protection to prevent overheating. Are the ventilation grilles free of dust and dirt and are they all uncovered, i.e not pushed against a wall. The higher that you turn the volume up, the harder the amp works and therefore generates more heat. If there is a cooling fan inside, is it working? If not that may be the problem. Good luck.

Your amp may be trying to drive a pair of speakers that it cannot handle. Typical hi-fi speaker impedence is 8ohms. If yours are under this it could be the cause.

ye i think that could be it cuz i have a few different speakers and 2 of them are 5 watts! would that be the problem??

It's possible, check the impedence your amp expects, and if the speakers are rated lower than this, that could be your problem. If you have several speakers connected to the amp in parallel then that's more likely the cause.

I unplugged the 5 watt speakers and now its workin properly! so i'm guessing that was the problem, thanks a million for the help!!
