I thought i could do it myself but i couldnt, the meetings really help and they give you good info about eating and nutrition etc, i would recommend it definately.
Some people dont understand why i pay to loose weight but if it makes you happy whats wrong with that?
Boobesque back me up here!
Well i started in October i dont have alot to lose just wanted to do it to make me feel better about myself as i think most people do. Ive never been to any slimming club before.
The points system is good cos you can eat what you like as long as you're within your points. They give you good info to help you lose weight and the meetings are always good to meet people.
They do lots of recipe books so i think you would find something you can both enjoy.
I dont like veg (i know i should) so the main thing that it has helped me do is just to say no to chocolate and that chinese i might have when i cant be bothered cooking. I just think im not eating that cos i want to lose at least a pound this week!!
Sorry to go on but it just makes me think alot more about what im eating, if i was doing it on my own i would eat more rubbish cos i wouldnt get weighed as often.
One last thing if your think about joining weight watchers go on there website and get the voucher that lets you join for free its 9 otherwise
hope ive helped
The only diet that really works is cutting out all snacks. I cut out all chocolate, cakes and crisps and lose weight instantly. I used to think because I walked about 1/2 - 1 hour a a day I could get away with eating a chocolate bar and crisps as afternoon snacks everyday but I couldn't loose any weight. I decided to quit eating rubbish and the weight fell off instantly. I was about a stone overweight but in less than 2 weeks I had lose 1/2 stone.
Slimming clubs are ok but you can feel small when you don't do very well and they tell everybody you have gained or not lost any weight. I went once and felt really ashamed and it scared me going again. I was younger then and more shy and I didn't like being told off in front of everybody. Plus you have to pay to be weighed when you can weight yourself at home for free. You know how you are doing really, it depends on if you want someone to hold your hand.
At my Weight watchers group you NEVER get weighed in front of everyone you have a private weigh in. I have never been made to feel small and they never tell other members how you have done or speak to you specifically about your weight infront of everyone. You make it sound like Fat Fighters on Little Britain and its nothing like that
Some people like myself just need that little motivation of knowing that they will be weighed each week. Its not about hand holding its about support and encouragment
Im pleased that you have lost your weight by yourself funnywebsite but some people just need that little extra help.
Feel free to ask for help rebajayne, i read this section alot so ill look out for any questions.
i have unsucsessfully tried slimming world, slim fast, you name it, but weight watchers has been the best for me, check my progress here www.freewebs.com/boobesque
Personally I refuse to pay to be weighed and frankly patronised at Weight Watchers or Slimming World etc, I've tried them before and for me they just don't work.
I've recently lost about a stone and a half on my own, I've done it purely by not combining carbs and proteins in the same meal. I've cut down on the carbs but not cut them out completely. I don't eat between meals and I eat healthily (most of the time!). I highly recommend!!
At the end of the day there is not one diet for all (otherwise I'd have developed it and be a millionaire!), so do what ever works for you.
I have to agree with the others, as I joined Rosemary Conley's diet club last year, as doing it on my own wasn't working. After looking at lots of different diets clubs I decided on rosemarys because of the exercise element, I'm not keen on gyms but wanted to improve my fitness.
Most clubs will allow you to try for at least one week for a nominal fee, so try some and see! I've never been weighed in front of others and my gains if any are not broadcast, but weight loss is positive and made a fuss of!
It does work, but you've got to stick to it, so most of all good luck!

Whan I came out of the army I put on 2 stone in less than a year. Having run sub 5 minute miles for about 10 years I was horrified that the best I could muster was around 7 minutes.
I lost the weight through excersise alone. I strongly believe that is the only key to success. I can appreciate that gyms are daunting especially if one is a little portly but there is so much you can do at home and in the street without being a lycra-clad vixen.
Just work your heart rate to about 60-70 of max for about 20 mins a day. If you are unfit you will be surprised at how easy it is. The weight will fall off.
Save your money and buy a heart monitor.
Hi
Thanks for all your answers. Im going to try the weight watchers in the new year. Im already a memeber of a gym, not that i go as much as i do. But having someone to tell em how im doing with my weight will def help.
Watch this space for the weight watchers members i might be needing your help.
Have a good christmas

Hi Rebajayne, I know this post is a bit late but I've only just seen your question. I have to put in my two pennarth for Slimmin World.
I've been to Weightwatchers, RosemaryConley, done atkins and everything else under the sun but last Jan I started a brilliant new SW class with a brand new consultant Debbie. I've lost 2 stone but I know I could've lost lots more if I'd applied myself more but I prob wouldnt have stuck to the plan if I couldnt have the odd bottle of wine or occasional pig out.
I'm so proud of myself even though I have another 3 stone to lose. I can only praise SW - although it prob depends on the group you join. We all get on so well we have nights out. We're just like Fat Friends ! I love our meetings so much that its my ambition to become a consultant when I've lost more.
Give it a go, Rebajayne, but whatever you decide, Good Luck x
