I've been told DSL is better because depending on the number of users on a cable the performance is affected.

Also do you mean "wireless" as in satellite/wimax? Its only used in remote areas.

If you wireless in the home then it'd need a cable or DSL conection to work - it just replaces the wires trailing from the cable point/phone line to the PC.

cable and dsl are both effected by the number of users that are connecting through generic isp. a dsl user is connected through the telephone wires while the cable user is connected through underground cables suprisingly. theres more but i have been awake since 2pm on thursday. its now 3pm friday. ill clear this up when i wake up
wireless (assuming you mean wifi here, in the home), uses either a cable or dsl connection.

i've always found cable to be better performing than ADSL (note the A there); but maybe this is just more to do with ISPs than anything.
