the song's called don't let me be misunderstood and i think it was done by the animals, but nina simone has done a version too and i think that's the one on the advert. there's a version of it, more latino, on the kill bill soundtrack.

The original was by Elvis Costello. Joe Cocker's version plays in the credits of Layer Cake.

Like Knockin' On Heaven's Door, it's a timeless song that gets covered over and over.

good though Elvis Costello's 1986 version was, he was preceded by exactly 21 years by The Animals' version, which got to no 3 in 1965.
