Weve had our bathroom re tiled about 2 months ago. Some of the grouting seems grey in colour rather than white. Its quite patchy too. The tiler says its just the grouting drying out as he had to plasterboard some of the walls after taking the old tiles off but its also grey on some of the walls that arent plasterboarded. He came back after a week a re grouted some of it but it still looks the same. We are getting used to it (but dont want to ) as people seeing our `new bathroom ` for the first time are bound to notice it. He is quite willing to come and re- do it again if its still the same in a months time. Has anyone else experienced this as he says it has happened before but dried out eventually
TIA

It doesn't long for grouting to dry - perhaps 48 hours - the same length of time that you were advised not to use the shower.

Sounds like it wasn't mixed up properly from powder, or specks of dirt got into the wet mix.
its really important not to gethe fresh grout wet ,no bath or shower for ist 24 hours , maybe condensation on walls if you did bath etc.

We were away for the week the bathroom was done so it didnt get wet for about 3 days when we came back
Thanks both
As B/M says, if he did two mixes one may have been stronger than the other, grout sets very quick as your using it somtimes if you've made it to strong, to wet and you may have a lighter colour
Sounds like dirt in the grout, this happened when my husband employed a labourer and he beggared up the mixing. OH had to re do the whole lot!
There we are then - he's trying it on and hoping you'll get used to it over time and stop complaining. It's dirt or a poor mix, QED.

thanks all. He is due to come back this week and take another look at it. Problem is, we are having floor tiled on Thursday and if he starts taking all the grouting out now its gonna ruin our `new` bathroom. We dont want to delay the floor as we were hoping for it all finished for Xmas. Its a shame cos hes done a good job apart from this and it looks lovely
